Inexplicably, the last day or so has seen headlines proclaiming that global tensions are easing.<\/p>\n

This is baffling to me as saber rattling and twitter rants rage between potentially gravely unstable and impulsively vitriolic heads of states.<\/p>\n

This is also baffling to me as horrific domestic social atrocities are being committed not on many sides but by a racist, bigoted, morally repugnant side.<\/p>\n

I’m feeling awful about the world.\u00a0 I’m feeling only marginally better about myself as I struggle with various, truly “small potato” relative problems of a personal nature.<\/p>\n

In many ways, I’m feeling hopeless and helpless.<\/p>\n

And so I do what I always seem to do at times like these — I figure out a way to run away.<\/p>\n

But today’s a little different.\u00a0 In my own bit of social activism, I’m opting to take a stand… sorta, kinda, not really but I’m telling myself I am anyway.<\/p>\n

Today, I registered for this:<\/p>\n

If the world should end… the $80 registration fee I’d be out wouldn’t even crack the top 1000 things I’d be worrying about.<\/p>\n

So why not?<\/p>\n
