{"id":34493,"date":"2019-10-13T20:59:15","date_gmt":"2019-10-14T00:59:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.runkevinrun.com\/?p=34493"},"modified":"2019-10-13T20:59:15","modified_gmt":"2019-10-14T00:59:15","slug":"brigid-kosgei-new-womens-marathon-record-at-chicago","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/runkevinrun.com\/?p=34493","title":{"rendered":"Brigid Kosgei &#8211; New Women&#8217;s Marathon Record at Chicago"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I had one of my worst races ever at the Chicago Marathon.<\/p>\n<p>I was neck deep into final negotiations on an exit from a job in the UK and I had taken a long weekend to ChiTown to run and hopefully clear my head.<\/p>\n<p>And then on top of stress and time zone shifts, I came down with food poisoning.<\/p>\n<p>It was a real struggle to even finish especially when a lot of folks had told me it was a super fast course. This was the race where I was passed by a dude dressed as the Eiffel Tower. Not in an Eiffel Tower shirt &#8212; a literal boxy outfit like you&#8217;d see a busker wearing in Times Square or Hollywood asking people if they wanted a photo&#8230; tips appreciated.<\/p>\n<p>But this isn&#8217;t about me.\u00a0 This is about\u00a0Brigid Kosgei who set a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.runnersworld.com\/news\/a29430378\/chicago-marathon-results-womens-winner\/\">new Women&#8217;s Marathon World Record at Chicago<\/a> today.\u00a0 She bested the UK&#8217;s Paula Radcliffe time that held the record since 2003.\u00a0 With a super impressive 2:14:04.<\/p>\n<p>And just as I did for\u00a0Eliud Kipchoge&#8217;s sub 2 time, let&#8217;s figure out how much I need to shave off my PR to catch Brigid Kosgei: Forty-eight minutes and thirty-one seconds to tie her, forty-eight minutes and thirty-two seconds to &#8220;beat&#8221; her time.<\/p>\n<p>Yowzers.\u00a0 The elites just seemingly float over the roads.\u00a0 Hard work and tenacity pays off&#8230; and yet there really isn&#8217;t enough hard work or tenacity left in this bag of bones so I&#8217;m just gonna let you have this one.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>JK, jk.\u00a0\u00a0Kudos,\u00a0Brigid Kosgei.\u00a0 You&#8217;re an inspirational rock star!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I had one of my worst races ever at the Chicago Marathon.
