Jet lag is a real thing. I think I finally drifted off into fitful waking sleep around 5:30 am. I awoke to this “alarm clock” at 7\/7:30-ish.<\/p>\n

So far my one criticism of Dubai is its construction hours start time!<\/p>\n

I opted to get up and shower off whatever vestiges of travel and slumber remained. \u00a0I’m stiff and sore, partly from the sadistic airline seats and partly to lingering scrapes, bruises, and scans from last week’s tumble. \u00a0Gonna make tomorrow’s race interesting for sure.<\/p>\n

I ventured out around the hotel in search of a Coca-Cola Light. I’m self-medicating caffeine as a means to power through the jet lag. I never said I was smart, just stubborn. \u00a0Maybe that’s why I like marathons – they seem well suited to stubborn fools like me!<\/p>\n

Surely the copyright notice is for the logo proper and not the carbonated contents within… but I couldn’t help but think Coke Light is like a scotch or fine wine, aged to perfection.<\/p>\n

The weather is perfect for running. \u00a0Not too hot, cool even at 8:30 am so no doubt even more so at the 6:30 am start time tomorrow. \u00a0Should make for a good race; I ran into a course official in Paris and he said it’s a flat course with maybe three turns in the 42.195 km distance. \u00a0We will see what I see at the race packet pickup this afternoon.<\/p>\n

Upon returning to my hotel, I downloaded the Uber-ish Careem app for ride share transit.<\/p>\n

My international running friend Reda called me and we’ve setup a lunch for noon.<\/p>\n

Meantime, I expect a brief nap may be in order.<\/p>\n
