Stop Gap

Ugh.  I’ve been sitting here for an hour trying to upload photos for today’s post.  I’m suffering rage blackouts at the progress bars approaching full and then kicking out error messages. Enough!  I’ll post the rest at a later date. Meanwhile, here’s an ” in-the-moment” shot fellow SW runner Allison Leer posted to Facebook:

Interlude – A Whole Bunch of Hooey

Posted

I’m having a night of darkness. No biggie, right? The night is SUPPOSED to be dark. The sun has set, the supermoon is a thing of history for another few decades and in the case of Laughlin, NV, the clouds have blown in as the winds whip through the desert. The partially burned out neon […]

Southwest Series – Day 3 – Mesquite, NV Day 2

Posted

Run. Eat. Sleep. Repeat. Mesquite, NV, Day 2… or Southwest Series Day 3… or runcation race day 5… or runcation race 6… I slept terribly last night. You’d think after the miles I’d be able to collapse and lose some hours to Queen Mab. But amidst tossing and turning and clock watching I’m not sure […]

Southwest Series – Day 2 – Mesquite, NV

I’m staying at a middle of nowhere casino called Virgin River Hotel/Casino. It’s not a bad room, especially given that it’s $30 a night with tax. Plus, it’s only a ten minute drive to the Mesquite NV Sports and Events Complex where we’ll be running today and tomorrow. The course is a 14-loop affair, out […]

Southwest Series – Day 1 – Hurricane, UT

Hurricane, UT – Sand Hollow State Park Twelve loops. Twelve at times mind numbing loops.  Twelve times to see the iconic MM black cone marking the turn around for the out and back loop.  Twelve rubber bands around the wrist at marathon’s end.  The night before in Vegas I slapped two glow rings on as a […]

Dr. Strange 10K

Posted

Part of the storyline for Dr. Strange posits that in the mystical realm there are acolytes and disciples of competing philosophies for time, space, life, the universe, and everything. In that regard, perhaps the banter of the race announcers and their Marvel Universe stars was the very model of subtle wink-wink, nudge-nudgery. This is because […]

Veterans Day 2016

Posted

I posted this to Facebook: “Thank you to those who have served, who are serving, and who will serve. And thank you to the brave families who sacrifice so much to support the mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, daughters and sons who have ever put on the uniform. Those on the front lines and those on […]

Mistakes Were Made

Posted

I did run more than 26.2 miles in Milwaukee.  Good to know I wasn’t crazy. Mistakes happen.  We all need to acknowledge that and we all need to work to make things right.
