WDW 10k – 2026 edition

The 10K theme?  A Mystery – supposedly of the missing acorns but that wasn’t really carried through the race.  Unless you count the finisher shirt which shows Dale has eaten all the acorns, which, okay, sure.  But mainly it was a race with various “mystery” elements to it.  Sadly, nary a sighting of Basil of Bakerstreet, aka The Great Mouse Detective.  What you’re left with is The Not So Great Kevin of Runnerville.

The route was wonky.  Both for the drive into the parking lot and on the course itself.  Some changes must have been made since prior years because I don’t remember all the detours.  Plus, I think the running route was long.  While I’m sure we ping-ponged a bit to catch a character photo op and to duck and weave the crowd, it seems unlikely we’d be half a mile long.  But maybe?  Who knows?

I do know my leg is neither better nor worse for having run — the pain remains and it’s roughly the same standing, walking, or running.  It moves around the leg, meaning again that probably nothing’s broken or stress fractured but that there is something off.  Overuse and over-compensation for a minor pain that just can’t quite seem to get right.  And that’s with having taken some time off from running the past few weeks.  One can only wonder how the half marathon and full marathon will go this weekend… but those are problems for another day.  Namely tomorrow and Sunday.  So, push that off until then, yeah?  That’s healthy.

Besides, I have another PT appointment for Monday so, ya know, any issues can be addressed then.  For now?  Well, onward.
