Week 4: Longer and longer, slower and slower…

Increased mileage but unfortunately during my long 13-mile “run” this weekend there was a lot of walking.  I was very slow… averaging close to ten minute mile paces with only a half marathon distance… which means a 4:30 marathon pace at best I think.  Not great.  Not great at all.

But that’s what the training is for, I suppose.  At least in some respects.  It’s mainly to build back up the skeletal endurance and avoid current/future stress fractures.  But gosh do I wish I could get some cardio and speed back as well.  It’s disheartening in more ways than one.
