Today is election day in the United States of America.
I voted weeks ago via a mail-in ballot that I tracked and confirmed had been received back and double checked it had been deemed “acceptable.” My vote will count. Every American who votes by today, be it in person or via postmark, every vote must count.
It will be several days before we know definitively who will be the next President of The United States. I suspect one will try and claim victory tonight and further damage the idealism and hope of our nation, will further stomp on what it means to be we the people seeking a more perfect union.
I am sick to my stomach. I am worried. I am nervous and anxious and distracted and depressed … yet I try and keep hope alive.
We are better than these past few years and especially these past few months.
I am worried.
May today be the beginning of a new day for America. May we the people stand up for truth, justice, science, fact, equality, liberty, compassion, hope and the American way.
Come what may, tomorrow we will start again.
